OUR HISTORY

Founder of Oriental English Academy Schools , Dr. Sadashiv D. Rawoot was born and brought up in Padal-Kolhapur. During his school and college days he was always fond of English language and wanted to study English literature. After completing his graduation in India he joined University of Michigan (USA). He completed his post graduation and Doctorate at Michigan. During that time he wrote English plays and even performed in dramas on the stage. After staying in USA for seven years he came back to India to promote English language. Initially he worked as a Professor in various colleges. His friends invited him to Belgaum in Karnataka and requested him to start an English Medium School for the children of common people. In 1971 he established Oriental English Academy Trust and started English Medium School to spread English Education among Bahujan Samaj. It was a blessings for poor and middle class students who were deprived of English education as they were finding tough to get admission in well established Catholic schools. Oriental students always excelled in academics and sports. Many students who were from economically poor background became Doctors, Engineers , Lawyers, businessmen. Many sportsmen shined at National level especially in football.

In 1976, a branch of Oriental School started in Kolhapur. Initially it was started in a small premises at Rajarampuri with only few students. Mrs. Chaya R. Kangralkar Desai, daughter of Dr. Rawoot became the first Principal of this school. She took immense effort to bring this school to a great level. Prin. Kangralkar was a Gold Medalist ( MA English ) of Karnataka University put in lot of hard work to make the dream of her father a success. She too maintained the vision to provide affordable English education to the students. Thousands of poor and middle class students passed out from Oriental School Kolhapur since then. School also excelled in academics as well as in extracurricular activities. Meanwhile school brought land and constructed own it’s building. Along with the studies school also motivated students to participate in sports and game. Time to time school teams excelled in cricket, football , Kurash and in other games. School has maintained its tradition to appoint a good quality staff so that there is no compromise in academics.
